FaceBook has taken a big chunk of the users from MySpace. One of the big reasons for this is of course that it is relatively spam free. Since Facebook has been closed for search engines and MySpace hasn’t, the later has been packed with link comments while Facebook actually have been a place weher you can chat with your Real friends.
Today I found this in my inbox:
In a few weeks, these public search listings can be found by search engines like Google. No privacy rules are changing; anyone who discovers your public search listing must register and log in to contact you via Facebook.
Suddenly Facebook is going to be indexed by Google. There are no good reasons for this, I can see no advantages at all for facebook to get indexed, other then getting a little traffic from Google but this will of course be compensated by the migration of the users. As soon as you can use a site for SEO purposes not only the search engine optimizers will start showing up but the spammers as well.
This is why myspace died, they might seem like they have millions and millions of users but truth to be told, it’s only spammers spamming each other. Facebook will now face this too. |
